Sil
RoseDefaultBalanced melee — the measuring stick
- Bramble Lash (basic) — Mid-range whip arcs. Range is the whole character: at max distance, +25% damage and you out-poke everything.
- Vine Snare (skill) — Roots the first enemy hit for 2s. Your panic button and your setup tool — root, then walk to max range.
- Full Bloom (ult) — AOE blossom burst around Sil. 1.0 buffed its hitbox; it now reliably hits burrowing aphids.
- Passive · Gardener's Eye — Humming rooms glow faintly. Only Sil sees this — she is the lore-delver's pick.
Post-nerf (1.0 lash speed −18%) she is fair, not free. The community tier fight is whether she is still S-tier — our take: A+, and the best first clear.
Poppy
PoppyDefeat the Bramble Hound (Rose Forecourt boss)Burst mage — highest peaks, lowest floor
- Ember Seeds (basic) — Lobbed fire seeds, slow but heavy. Leads targets — do not aim where they are, aim where they will be.
- Sunflower Burst (skill) — Channeled nova. The best "get off me" in the game; the 1.0.1 hotfix fixed its self-stun lingering after cancel.
- Wildfire Crown (ult) — Rain of fire over 4s. Deletes boss phases if pre-positioned; whiffs entirely if the boss dashes.
- Passive · Short Fuse — +15% damage when below half HP. Poppy players live dangerously or not at all.
The speedrun pick. Co-op lobbies beg for one Poppy. Solo she punishes sloppy spacing harder than anyone.
Fern
FernFind her napping behind the Greenhouse waterfall (crouch under the third ivy curtain)Summoner / control — plays the room, not the enemy
- Spore Darts (basic) — Weak homing darts. Fern's damage comes from her garden, not her hands.
- Tangle Patch (skill) — Plants a slowing, damaging vine zone that persists the whole room. Stack two on a choke point.
- Ancient Topiary (ult) — Summons a walking topiary beast for 20s. It body-blocks, taunts, and — discovered day one — triggers plate puzzles for you.
- Passive · Green Thumb — Vine zones last +4s. Simple, and it multiplies her entire kit.
The thinking player's witch and the co-op anchor. Low APM, high planning. The day-one discovery that her ult solves plate puzzles made her the lore route's darling.
Noctua
Night PhloxBottom of the Hollow Well — bring a light source relicShadow sniper — single-target executioner
- Moonbolt (basic) — Slow, piercing bolts. One-shots basic aphids; the pierce lines up nasty corridor shots.
- Owlstep (skill) — A short blink that leaves a decoy shadow. Her entire difficulty budget lives in this cooldown.
- Umbral Volley (ult) — Seven homing bolts on the highest-HP target. Boss delete button — if nothing else body-blocks.
- Passive · Night Eyes — Sees through the Well's darkness without a lantern. Flavor? No — it saves you a relic slot.
Highest skill ceiling in 1.0. The community underestimated her during EA ("slow bolts bad") — the 1.0 pierce buff flipped her from worst to boss-killer.
Marigold
MarigoldMoongrass Slope — heal the wilted deer with any healing relicPoison & sustain — the long game
- Pollen Puff (basic) — Short-range poison cloud. Stacks five times; kite through your own clouds.
- Remedy Bloom (skill) — Heals 20% over 3s and cleanses. The only self-cleanse in the game — Toad King makes it mandatory-feeling.
- Golden Hour (ult) — 10s of infinite poison stacking. Set up clouds first, then ult, then watch the health bars melt.
- Passive · Apothecary — Poison ticks +30% longer. Unremarkable until you read Golden Hour again.
Underrated at launch because her damage "feels" slow. Day-one math: her sustained DPS is second only to a perfect-spacing Noctua. The patience pick.
Mirror Sil — the hidden sixth witch
Found within nine hours of the 1.0 launch: stand in the Moongrass Slope reflecting pool at full moon with zero relics equipped, and your reflection steps out.
She plays as an inverted Sil — the lash heals enemies and her "Full Bloom" drains your own HP into damage. The community verdict: a challenge character, deliberately hostile design, and the clearest sign Team Tapas is listening to the "too easy at the top end" crowd.
Beating her as a boss unlocks her as playable. Yes, people did it day one. No, we have not.
